About Us

Power of Prevention is a local coalition that works with community partners to make Northern Aroostook a healthier place to live and work. Much of our work is through education and awareness as well as policy and environmental change in five areas: physical activity, nutrition, tobacco, substance abuse, and chronic disease.

We are one of the local Healthy Maine Partnerships funded through the Fund for a Healthy Maine, a grant from the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a division of the Department of the Maine Health and Human Services. We also receive funding and support from the Maine Office of Substance Abuse.  Power of Prevention is hosted in Caribou by Cary Medical Center and in Fort Kent by Northern Maine Medical Center.
